Strategy
The equity sleeve holds mining companies across market caps focused on rare earth elements and strategic metals including lithium, cobalt, copper, nickel, zinc, and related industrial materials. The futures sleeve overlays CME/LME-listed contracts across aluminum, cobalt, copper, lead, lithium, nickel, platinum, silver, tin, and zinc, implemented through a Cayman subsidiary.
WisdomTree runs the portfolio with proprietary research, co-managed with Mellon Investments Corporation. Because the futures leg introduces leverage on top of already-cyclical mining equities, sleeve interactions matter: both sides can sell together in broad risk-off tapes while diverging sharply when futures curves price structural supply constraints differently from equity sentiment.
Manager and Issuer Pedigree
WisdomTree built its brand on fundamentally weighted and capital-efficient ETFs well before many copycat implementations. The same derivatives-and-collateral framework underpins its Efficient Core and related stacked sleeves.
WisdomTree has reported roughly $143B+ in global ETP and tokenized AUM (late-2025 disclosures), giving institutional futures and collateral infrastructure while still operating as a specialist versus the largest index houses.
Outperformance
Outperforms when the green-energy transition and industrial demand drive sustained rallies in base and rare earth metals, with miners re-rating on higher realized prices while futures curves stay in backwardation and provide positive roll yield.
Underperforms when risk-off rotation hits cyclicals broadly, compressing miners independently of metals spot moves, or when futures contango erodes roll yield while equity sentiment is already cautious on China demand.
